Materials and edge banding

Keep material names and visible edges clear before moving into nesting and export.

Set materials before export

Assign carcass, back, front, drawer, and solid-lumber materials in CabCAD using names that match the stock your shop buys. Those names travel with the 3MF and give CutCAD a useful starting point for thickness-based material groups.

Edge banding follows part intent

CabCAD records edge-banding intent on generated sheet parts and includes it in ShopCAD 3MF metadata. In CutCAD, select a part to inspect or adjust its cut face, grain, material override, and carried edge-banding information.

  • Use the project edge-band thickness for visible cabinet edges.
  • Verify fronts, doors, shelves, and exposed sides when appearance depends on grain or finished-edge direction.
  • Material changes do not erase the original part role or edge-band metadata.
