CutCAD orientation for trusted Studio sources

Studio-generated handoffs can bypass manual import orientation while user uploads still need review.

Studio handoffs stop on Source

CabCAD, BenchCAD, and JoinCAD handoffs arrive with orientation accepted and the best manufacturing flow preselected. CutCAD intentionally remains on Source so you can change Sheet goods, Dimensional lumber, or Combination before committing to the workflow.

Manual imports

User-uploaded 3MF files require Z-up orientation confirmation because their source coordinate system may be unknown. CutCAD still classifies bodies by explicit manufacturing metadata when present, then by thickness and board width when metadata is absent.

  • Parts thinner than 18 mm classify as sheet goods.
  • Approximately 18–19 mm parts narrow enough for configured lumber presets can enter the low-confidence confirmation queue.
  • Thicker extrusion-like bodies and explicit lumber metadata classify as lumber; wide panels classify as sheet goods.
  • A manual Sheet or Lumber decision remains saved unless the source body changes.
